Chaplin's New Year Message

A New Year without Fear

As the European explorers began exploring the far reaches of the Atlantic Ocean, they would draw maps as far out as they had explored.

And when they reached the nether point of their exploration, they didn’t know what was further out, so they would write on their maps: “Beyond this, there may be dragons.”

Now, they’d never seen a dragon, but they didn’t know what was out there. They were afraid of the uncharted; they were afraid of the unknown.

Well, as history proved, as they extended their maps, they found golden beaches, lush fields, and rivers of gold, and beautiful things.

But so far as they were concerned, it was uncharted and unknown, and, therefore, fearful. And that’s the way many of us feel about the future.

We don’t have to face the future in fear. Now, Now, we’re all going to face some things, but we can face this New Year with our shoulders square and smiles on our faces because of what we have in Christ.

I’m not trying to tell you that it’s going to be all honey and no bees. Oh, no. This next year may be a terrible year – we just don’t know.

But we can stand upon the promises of the Word of God:

Heb 13:6 – … The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
