October 2024 President’s Update for Blog

Greetings NACVSO Members and Partners,

I would like to take a moment to address inquiries that have been made by our membership regarding the departure of our Executive Director, Kim Shalloo.

As many of you know, Kim’s involvement in NACVSO spans many years. As a CVSO in New Jersy, she also served on our Executive Board as the Washington Liaison and was a valued member of our leadership team.

Her success in this capacity influenced NACVSOs eventual decision to hire her as our first employee in the capacity of Executive Director. While there, she guided our organization through many important initiatives, and we are grateful for her contributions.

As we are all aware, new opportunities arise both in and outside of the veteran service landscape. Kim was offered one such opportunity and she accepted. She tendered her voluntary resignation effective Aug 16th of this year, to which we bid her “fair winds and following seas.”

Since that time, your NACVSO Executive Board has been busy with reorganizing workflows to accommodate the vacancy. Ward Circle Strategies has been brought in to assist with many of our day-to-day administrative functions at our DC office until we are able to fill new and existing vacancies with the best possible candidates. As such, there will be new positions posting for recruitment soon, and we will make sure they are available to you all once they go live.

Additionally, I am pleased to announce that NACVSO has entered into a contract agreement with the Munshine Group, a financial planning organization that specializes in non-profit organizational growth, to handle our investment portfolio and help us grow our assets, better supporting our program growth.

I would like to remind everyone that we are still “business as usual” and you may contact the organization for any reason by writing info@NACVSO.com, or by writing me directly at chinton@NACVSO.com.

As always, thank you for your continued commitment to our veterans and our shared mission. Together, we will continue to change the lives of veterans across the nation.

Warm regards,

Christopher Hinton
President, NACVSO
