April 2025 President’s Update

Greeting NACVSO Members and Strategic Partners,

April has been another landmark month for NACVSO as we hosted the 2025 NACVSO Leadership Summit, one of our most vital events of the year. This summit isn’t just another meeting on the calendar—it has become a cornerstone of our legislative strategy.

The NACVSO Leadership Summit offers a direct line of communication between our members and the decision-makers in Washington. It’s a space where real conversations take place—where VA leadership, congressional legislators, and their staff not only share insight into the policies shaping veterans’ lives but also listen and learn from those who live the work every day: County Veteran Service Officers.

This year’s event was a prime example of that exchange. We were honored to hear from VA Secretary Doug Collins, Acting Undersecretary for Benefits Michael Frueh, and a distinguished panel of congressional aides representing the Senate and House Committees on Veterans’ Affairs. Their presence speaks volumes about the respect NACVSO has earned as a thought leader and trusted partner in veteran advocacy space.

More than just a listening session, the Summit empowers our members to take part in shaping policies that define our work. It gives us a front-row seat to how decisions are made—and in many cases, a voice in how those decisions are shaped. This connection between on-the-ground experience and high-level decision making is what fueled the success of the CVSO Act, and it’s what will continue to drive NACVSO’s wins in the months and years ahead.

As we look forward, I’m pleased to announce that registration for the 2025 NACVSO Annual Conference in Louisville, Kentucky this July is now open. This is another can’t-miss opportunity to grow professionally, engage with your peers, and stay at the forefront of the advocacy that defines our profession. Please visit NACVSO.org and login to register.

Once again, thank you for your dedication, your service, and your voice. Let’s keep the momentum going.

Warm regards,

Christopher Hinton President, NACVSO
